Arsenal Clinches Premier League Title After 22 Years

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Arsenal has triumphed at last, concluding their 22-year Premier League title drought with a 2-1 win against Crystal Palace on the season's final day at Selhurst Park.

With 85 points, the Gunners finished on top of the league table, heralding their first league victory since 2004. Crystal Palace wrapped up their season in 15th place, gathering 45 points.

This final match day also saw Pep Guardiola bid farewell to Manchester City, where they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium, securing second place with 78 points.

Aston Villa capped off a successful season that included a Europa League victory, finishing fourth and earning a spot in the upcoming UEFA Champions League with 65 points.

At Anfield, Liverpool and Brentford played to a 1-1 draw in a match that commemorated Mohamed Salah’s last appearance for the Reds. Liverpool concluded the season in fifth place with 60 points, while Brentford finished ninth with 53 points.

The relegation scenario unfolded dramatically, with Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers both relegated following their 1-1 draw, finishing the season in 19th and 20th place, respectively. West Ham United also faced relegation despite a 3-0 win over Leeds United.

On a positive note, Tottenham Hotspur managed to avoid the drop with a vital 1-0 win against Everton on the last day.

In other noteworthy matches, Manchester United overpowered Brighton 3-0, Fulham bested Newcastle United 2-0, Sunderland triumphed over Chelsea 2-1, and Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth played to a 1-1 draw.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Liverpool will all be seen in next season's UEFA Champions League following their successful top-five finishes in the Premier League.
