Bahrain and Argentina Foreign Ministers Convene at UN

Post by : Bianca Haleem

During the UN Security Council meetings in New York, Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, engaged in dialogue with Argentina’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Pablo Quirno.

The ministers explored the robust bilateral ties between their nations, seeking avenues to enhance cooperation across various domains. They emphasized the necessity of developing partnerships that serve the interests of both Bahrain and Argentina.

Key regional matters were also on the agenda, with discussions surrounding the recent Iranian attacks affecting Bahrain and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, as well as Jordan. They voiced concern regarding escalating tensions and their potential impact on regional peace.

Furthermore, the implications of Iran’s actions in closing the Strait of Hormuz were deliberated, highlighting its significance for international shipping and the global economy. The Strait stands as a vital corridor for trade, making any disruption a pressing global issue.

The meeting also tackled mutual interests, showcasing a shared dedication to foster dialogue and collaboration on both global and regional matters.

Present at the meeting were Bahrain’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Jamal Fares Al Rowaiei, alongside senior officials including Saeed Abdulkhaliq Saeed, Head of the Coordination and Follow-up Affairs Sector, Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organizations Sector, plus members of the minister’s delegation.
