Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, announced the launch of the National Aviation Strategy (2026–2027). The initiative supports government efforts to advance the civil aviation sector and enhance its contribution to the national economy, in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
The minister stated that the strategy reflects Bahrain’s commitment to reinforcing its position as a leading regional and global aviation hub. He noted that the plan was developed in collaboration with public and private sector partners, emphasizing that sustainable growth is achieved through joint efforts and integrated national initiatives.
He explained that the strategy focuses on responding to market needs as the main driver of growth. Its objectives include building a fully integrated aviation ecosystem aligned with international standards, transforming Bahrain International Airport into a global center of excellence, and positioning it as a preferred hub for commercial and private aviation, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and logistics services.
The strategy also aims to expand Bahrain’s air destination network from 66 to 100 routes by 2030, supporting GDP growth and creating high-quality employment opportunities for Bahraini citizens.
Implementation will be based on three key pillars: strengthening regulatory excellence and governance to ensure safety and efficiency; enhancing operational services to position Bahrain as a preferred aviation destination; and investing in infrastructure, sustainability, and national talent development.
During the launch ceremony held at the Awal Private Terminal, a Letter of Intent was signed between the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and BeOnd Airline, along with THC - the Helicopter Company. The agreements aim to support the strategy’s goals, expand air connectivity, and strengthen Bahrain’s position as a regional aviation and logistics hub. Senior officials and representatives from the aviation sector attended the event.
