Kohli Steers RCB to Back-to-Back IPL Titles

Post by : Shakul

In an exhilarating finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Royal Challengers Bengaluru defended their title by defeating Gujarat Titans and seizing their second consecutive IPL trophy with a five-wicket win.

Gujarat Titans, batting first, struggled against a formidable Bengaluru bowling attack. Their batting order crumbled under pressure, with only Washington Sundar providing resistance with his unbeaten half-century. Ultimately, they managed a modest total of 155 for 8 in their 20 overs.

From the start, RCB’s bowlers made a significant impact. Rasikh Dar Salam took three vital wickets in a brilliant spell, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood each secured two, effectively stifling any momentum from Gujarat during the middle overs.

In pursuit of 156 runs, Bengaluru began with determination. Venkatesh Iyer initiated an aggressive offensive, scoring a rapid 32 runs off just 16 balls. His partnership with Virat Kohli set a strong tone for the innings, putting pressure on the Titans early on.

Despite Gujarat's efforts to claw back by taking quick wickets, reducing RCB to 132 for 5, Kohli remained unshaken. Exuding poise, the former captain expertly guided Bengaluru through to victory.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 75 off 42 deliveries, including nine boundaries and three sixes, sealing the match with a colossal hit over long-on. This victory sparked jubilant celebrations among RCB fans.

Kohli's performance earned him the Player of the Match title, marking another illustrious moment in his career. This victory further solidifies Bengaluru’s position as a dominant franchise in IPL history.

Captain Rajat Patidar honored the night’s festivities by dedicating the title to fans lost during an accident in the team's previous victory celebrations, lending an emotional weight to RCB's triumph as they celebrated back-to-back titles.
