Chandigarh, India — January 28, 2026:
On Wednesday morning, at least nine private educational institutions in northern India received bomb threat emails, resulting in the swift evacuation of students and staff.
Officials reported that these threats were detected around 8:00 a.m. local time, affecting various schools in Chandigarh and Gurugram. Consequently, police and bomb detection units were dispatched to investigate and secure the locations.
Among the schools in Chandigarh receiving these alarming emails are Saint Kabir Public School, Ryan International School, Vivek High School, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chitkara International School, and Bhavan Vidyalaya, while four others in Gurugram were also similarly impacted.
In response to the threats, authorities instructed students and staff to leave the school grounds immediately as a precaution. Investigations are currently ongoing to identify the origin of the emails, and enhanced security protocol has been enforced.
No hazardous materials or suspicious items have been discovered at this stage; however, officials are rigorously addressing the situation considering the safety of all individuals involved.
