Chanthaburi Bridge Initiative Enhances Rural Trade

Chanthaburi Bridge Initiative Enhances Rural Trade

Post by : Shakul

The Thai Department of Rural Roads (DRR) has commenced an important bridge project spanning Khlong Phra Phutth in Chanthaburi Province. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity between the Pong Nam Ron District and Soi Dao District, fostering local economic enhancement and agricultural productivity in Eastern Thailand.

Ministry of Transport officials report that over 56 percent of the bridge is constructed, with completion expected by February 2027. The finished bridge will significantly shorten travel distances and times for local commuters and freight vehicles.

For years, residents of Ban Khlong Khot and Ban Samrong Lang faced long detours exceeding 20 kilometers to navigate between the districts. The absence of a direct route led to delays, escalated fuel expenses, and challenges in transporting agricultural products.

The bridge will measure approximately 100 meters in length, featuring two traffic lanes and a width of 9 meters. Additionally, a connecting road of 1,930 meters will be constructed, complete with asphalt surfacing, safety barriers, and lighting systems to assure driver safety and community welfare.

According to authorities, the project is set to cut travel time from nearly 30 minutes to just around 5 minutes. This bridge will also facilitate smoother connections with critical highways such as Highway 3210 and Highway 3193 across the province.

Chanthaburi is recognized as a vital agricultural area noted for its durian and longan fruits. Officials are optimistic that the upgraded road link will enable farmers and traders to distribute their products swiftly and efficiently to marketplaces and export centers.

The Ministry of Transport emphasizes that this project aligns with governmental policies aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure, increasing travel safety, and reinforcing local economies. Improved transportation routes are anticipated to further stimulate tourism, investment, and development in nearby regions.

With a budget of roughly 43 million baht, this bridge project represents a crucial advancement in the modernization of transportation systems in Eastern Thailand, positively impacting the daily lives of thousands.
