Chelsea Stuns Manchester City with Late Equalizer in Premier League Clash

Post by : Bianca Haleem

On Sunday night, Manchester City faced a significant blow in their Premier League title chase when Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez netted a last-minute equalizer, leading to a dramatic 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Dominating much of the match, City took the lead just before halftime with a powerful strike from Tijjani Reijnders, a deserving reflection of their control over possession and play during the first half.

However, the second half proved challenging for City. The exit of central defenders Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias due to injuries disrupted their rhythm. This allowed Chelsea to gain confidence and push forward in search of opportunities.

As stoppage time approached, City looked poised to claim all three points. Yet, in the dying moments, an oversight allowed a low ball to reach Enzo Fernandez unmarked at the back post, who calmly slotted it into the net, shocking the home crowd and securing a valuable equalizer.

With this draw, City remains in second place based on goal difference, just edging out Aston Villa, but now sits six points behind league leaders Arsenal. For Chelsea, still navigating a tumultuous season without a permanent manager, this late equalizer showcased their determination, while City must ponder over another lost chance in their title pursuit.
