Veteran actor Chiranjeevi has shared his admiration for his son Ram Charan's latest film Peddi, revealing that the movie reminded him of the type of role he always hoped to play. Speaking after watching the film, he said the story brought back memories of his admiration for the Bollywood blockbuster Dangal and the emotional sports dramas he once wished to be part of.
Peddi Revived A Long-Held Aspiration
Chiranjeevi explained that after watching Dangal years ago, he felt inspired to work in a similar film centered on family emotions, struggle and sports. According to him, Peddi carries the same emotional depth through its wrestling backdrop, family conflicts and powerful storytelling rooted in rural life.
Emotional Storytelling Wins Praise
The actor highlighted the film's focus on relationships, personal struggles and social values. He said stories set in village environments with simple characters and authentic emotions often leave a stronger impact on audiences than larger-than-life spectacles.
Proud Father Shares Honest Feelings
Chiranjeevi admitted he never expected a story like Peddi to come Ram Charan's way. As the film received widespread praise, some viewers even compared Charan's performance to his father's legacy. Chiranjeevi responded by saying he was immensely proud as a father, although the comparisons were difficult to accept from the perspective of an actor.
Peddi Continues Strong Box Office Run
Since its release on June 4, Peddi has emerged as one of the biggest Telugu films of the year. Reports suggest the film has already crossed Rs 3 billion worldwide, reflecting strong audience support and positive word-of-mouth across domestic and international markets.
Film Features Star-Studded Cast
Set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s, the film follows a determined villager who uses wrestling to unite his community against social challenges. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the movie stars Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu, with music composed by AR Rahman.
Director Addresses Audience Concerns
The film has also generated discussion regarding certain scenes involving Janhvi Kapoor's character. Following audience feedback, director Buchi Babu Sana issued a public apology and confirmed that some portions would be modified or removed. He reiterated that cinema should entertain, inspire and connect with viewers while respecting audience sentiments.
