Doha Interfaith Center Joins 2026 Malaysia Peace Conference

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID) is participating as a principal organizing partner in the 2026 International Conference on Peace Among Followers of Religions, being held in Malacca, Malaysia.

The conference’s official proceedings are scheduled to begin on Saturday, August 8, 2026. The event is being held under the theme of Malacca and Malaysia as a meeting point for faith, culture, diversity and harmony toward building a cohesive society.

DICID Participates for Second Consecutive Year

DICID is taking part as a principal organizing partner for the second consecutive year. The Center also participated in the previous edition, which was held in the Malaysian state of Penang in 2025.

The conference provides an international platform for religious leaders, government representatives and academics to exchange experiences and ideas on promoting peace and coexistence.

Discussions will also examine how shared values can help build greater understanding among people from different religious and cultural backgrounds. The event is expected to produce recommendations aimed at supporting the development of more cohesive societies.

Qatar Highlights Commitment to Interfaith Dialogue

Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue, said the Center’s role as a principal organizing partner reflects its commitment to strengthening international partnerships and advancing dialogue between religions and cultures.

He said these efforts are consistent with the State of Qatar’s mission of promoting dialogue and mutual understanding among peoples.

Dr. Al Nuaimi added that DICID’s work has expanded beyond local and regional activities, giving the Center a wider international presence across Europe, the Americas and Asia. He said this has further strengthened Qatar’s role as an active partner in efforts to promote global peace.

DICID Delegation to Deliver Keynote Address

The DICID delegation at the conference is led by Dr. Hamed bin Abdulaziz Al Marwani, a member of the Center’s board.

Dr. Al Marwani will deliver the keynote address on “The Transformative Power of Interfaith Understanding in Building Communities: From Diversity to Acceptance.”

The Center will also contribute to the conference’s academic programme.

Researcher to Discuss Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution

During the second plenary session, DICID Senior Researcher Dr. Sekou Marafa Toure will deliver a presentation examining the challenges involved in promoting peace and harmony.

His presentation will also address the role of the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue in supporting dialogue, helping resolve conflicts and contributing to peacebuilding efforts.

Around 150 Participants to Attend

The 2026 International Conference on Peace Among Followers of Religions brings together around 150 participants, including religious leaders, government officials and academics.

The discussions will focus on mutual understanding between religions as a foundation for peaceful coexistence, respect for diversity, acceptance of others, and stronger cooperation between religious communities and civil society institutions in support of sustainable peace.
