Recently, Dubai Chambers engaged in a series of pivotal meetings in Ethiopia aimed at bolstering trade and investment connections between Dubai and one of Africa’s rapidly expanding economies. The high-level meetings took place in Addis Ababa as part of a trade mission focused on Ethiopia and Ghana, designed to help Dubai-based firms discover innovative business prospects and expand their footprint in promising African markets.
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, led the delegation during this visit. Throughout their stay, they engaged with Ethiopian government officials, investment authorities, and business leaders to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in trade, industry, and investment.
A key discussion occurred with Melaku Alebel, Ethiopia’s Minister of Industry, where both parties emphasized the importance of industrial collaboration, fostering trade exchanges, and initiating partnerships between businesses in Dubai and Ethiopia. New business opportunities that could beneficiate the private sectors of both nations were a primary focus.
Moreover, talks with representatives of the Ethiopian Investment Commission highlighted the country’s attractiveness as an investment destination, identifying strategies to entice more international businesses and investors to both regions. Emphasis was placed on establishing a nurturing environment for firms seeking to broaden their operations and investments.
In addition, discussions with Ethiopian Investment Holdings, Africa’s largest sovereign wealth fund, explored potential long-term collaborations and joint venture opportunities across multiple sectors. Both sides considered opportunities where collaborative efforts could stimulate economic growth and deliver mutual advantages.
Dubai Chambers articulated that the visit signifies the strengthening economic ties between Dubai and African nations. This trade mission is a segment of the organization's larger initiatives to facilitate the global expansion of Dubai-based firms and reinforce Dubai’s status as a leading global hub for trade and investment.
The interactions are anticipated to pave the way for enhanced collaboration, boost bilateral trade, and foster investments that support economic development in both Dubai and Ethiopia.
