Dubai Games 2026 officially began with strong energy and record international participation. H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, attended the opening day competitions and praised the high level of performance shown by the teams.
During the event, Sheikh Mansoor highlighted the advanced physical and mental fitness of the participants. He said Dubai continues to set an inspiring example by promoting sport as a way of life for all age groups and people of different abilities.
Sheikh Mansoor also visited the tournament venues and appreciated the professional organisation of the event. He commended the strong coordination between all stakeholders in delivering Dubai Games at a standard that matches Dubai’s reputation for hosting major global events.
Men’s Battle of the Government
The first day featured two high-intensity heats of the Men’s Battle of the Government. These were held on a newly designed course created to test focus, coordination, and teamwork.
The third heat is scheduled for Friday. Teams that qualify from all three heats will advance to the Dubai Games finals, which will take place on 15 February.
Organising Committee Statement
The Organising Committee said the tournament has started strongly, with a high level of competition and team spirit. It noted that success in Dubai Games is not based on individual strength, but on teamwork, unity, and maintaining focus at every stage.

Dubai Games 2026 includes more than 1,600 players competing across 239 teams in four main categories:

Battle of the Community
Battle of the Cities
Battle of the Juniors
In the Men’s Battle of the Government, 546 players are competing across 78 teams.
In the Women’s Battle of the Government, 147 female players are participating across 21 teams.
The Battle of the Community includes 195 players across 28 teams.
The Battle of the Juniors features 392 young participants across 56 teams.
Highest International Participation
Dubai Games 2026 has recorded its highest international participation so far, with 336 players from 56 global city-teams competing for the tournament title.
