EAD Opens Entries for 10th Abu Dhabi Sustainability Awards

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has officially opened submissions for the 10th Anniversary Edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Awards, inviting organisations from across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors to showcase their achievements in sustainability.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG), which operates under EAD, the awards honour organisations and individuals that have shown outstanding leadership, innovation, and commitment to advancing sustainability across the region.

Awards Mark a Decade of Sustainability Leadership

Celebrating its 10th year, the awards continue to highlight the growing role of sustainability in driving both environmental protection and economic success. EAD has encouraged organisations from all sectors to take part in this milestone edition and contribute to the growing evidence that responsible environmental practices and business competitiveness go hand in hand.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainable Business Leadership Awards ceremony will be held on 29 September 2026 at Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Hotel.

Platform Recognises Excellence and Inspires Progress

Over the past decade, the awards have become an important platform for recognising organisations that have made meaningful contributions to sustainability. According to EAD, many participants have progressed from being early adopters of sustainable practices to becoming leaders in driving long-term organisational and environmental change.

The 2026 edition aims to celebrate ten years of ambition, collaboration, and measurable impact while encouraging more organisations to share their sustainability achievements.

EAD Highlights Importance of Environmental Leadership

Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of EAD, said the 10th anniversary reflects years of commitment that have delivered measurable progress, stronger ecosystems, and a future built on science and environmental stewardship.

She stated that environmental resilience remains essential to Abu Dhabi’s long-term prosperity and said the organisations recognised through the awards demonstrate the leadership, innovation, and accountability needed to turn sustainability goals into practical results.

Dr. Al Dhaheri also encouraged every organisation contributing to a sustainable future to participate in this year's awards and help shape the next phase of transformative growth across the emirate.

Awards Continue to Drive Organisational Improvement

Eng. Abdulla Mohammed Al Remeithi, Executive Director of the Integrated Environmental Policy and Planning Sector at EAD, said the awards have developed beyond a recognition programme and now serve as a catalyst for meaningful change.

He noted that organisations continue to improve each year by strengthening sustainability reporting, increasing stakeholder engagement, and adopting more effective methods to measure environmental and social impact.

He added that the 2026 awards provide an opportunity for organisations at every stage of their sustainability journey to assess their progress and demonstrate leadership that creates lasting results.
