Dubai: Young tennis prodigy Alexandra “Alex” Eala is poised to make her debut in the Australian Open main draw on Sunday, January 18, facing world No. 100 Alycia Parks from the United States.
Eala, at just 20 years old, has achieved a career-high ranking of No. 49 and heads into the tournament in remarkable form, showcasing her readiness during this peak phase of her career.
Eala’s Recent Form
Eala showcased her talents at the WTA ASB Classic in Auckland, where she reached the semifinals. Additionally, she triumphed in an exhibition match against Olympic silver medalist Donna Vekic during the Kooyong Classic, padding her confidence ahead of her Grand Slam debut.
Parks: A Tough Competitor
Despite her ranking, Alycia Parks, 25, poses a significant challenge with her powerful serve. She shares the record for the fastest serve in US Open history at 129 mph with tennis great Venus Williams. Parks has previously captured the 2023 Lyon Open title and reached the third round in the Australian Open two years ago.
