Dhofar University Launches Sustainability Week 2026

Post by : Shakul

Dhofar University in Salalah has inaugurated “Sustainability Week 2026,” gathering students and educators from across the Dhofar Governorate. This year’s theme is “Linking Culture with Innovation: Empowering Youth for Sustainability.”

The two-day initiative sees participation from more than 27 schools and colleges, creating an interactive environment for young individuals to delve into sustainable ideas and innovative concepts. Its aim is to enhance awareness regarding environmental stewardship and ignite creativity among students.

Organizers noted that the event acts as a vibrant hub for participants to showcase their projects, share ideas, and engage in discussions on sustainability and developmental challenges.

Dr. Muawiya Karim Al-Ani, Dean of the College of Commerce and Administrative Sciences, remarked that this initiative marks a crucial stride toward advancing sustainability awareness within academic settings and schools.

He underscored the importance of bringing together academics, students, and specialists to address vital themes like environmental protection, sustainable development, and the educational role in crafting a sustainable future.

The agenda features a panel discussion on “Linking Culture with Innovation: Empowering Youth for Sustainability,” along with exhibitions, competitions, and student-initiated projects centered on sustainable practices.

Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, “Sustainability Week” seeks to empower youth and encourage innovative approaches to tackling environmental and societal issues.
