Apple's iPhone 18 Launch Delayed to 2027 with Exciting Upgrades

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Recent insights indicate that Apple Inc. might postpone the launch of the standard iPhone 18, originally slated for 2026, to 2027. This strategic pivot could see new models released simultaneously.

Analyst Dan Nystedt suggests the upcoming iPhone 18 could boast 12GB of RAM, setting a new record for standard iPhones. This increase parallels the memory seen in the iPhone 17 Pro models, which upgraded from the previous 8GB.

Enhanced Performance and AI Capabilities

The RAM boost aligns with Apple's enhanced focus on AI functionalities. The company is anticipated to unveil advanced AI tools and an upgraded Siri at its next developer conference, necessitating greater memory and processing capabilities.

In addition, Apple is reportedly developing a new A20 chipset, crafted using advanced 2nm technology from TSMC. This chip is expected to offer up to 15% improved performance while remaining energy efficient.

Launch Delay Considerations

Reports suggest that Apple may pursue a staggered launch approach to navigate supply chain challenges and increased costs, influenced by global memory chip shortages. Hence, the iPhone 18's rollout may coincide with other models such as:

  • iPhone 18e

  • iPhone Air 2

Anticipated Features

Even with the postponement, the iPhone 18 is set to introduce several groundbreaking features:

  • 6.3-inch OLED display with 120Hz ProMotion technology

  • Reduced Dynamic Island (approximately 35% smaller)

  • 24MP front-facing camera with Centre Stage capability

  • Revised Camera Control button utilizing pressure sensors

Upcoming Foldable iPhone

Apple is also working on its inaugural foldable iPhone, potentially dubbed the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Fold, which might be unveiled before the iPhone 18.
