Sara Mohamed Falaknaz, representing the UAE Parliamentary Division, took part in a vital session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union during its 152nd Assembly in Istanbul.
The Committee on Middle East Questions convened to address the latest regional developments, focusing on rising tensions that threaten security and stability. The discussions also evaluated ongoing humanitarian and political challenges, along with international efforts to avert further escalation.
In her address, Falaknaz firmly condemned attacks on the UAE, Gulf countries, and Jordan, asserting that such actions are unjustifiable. She reiterated the UAE’s unwavering stance that its territory, airspace, and waterways will not be utilized for launching hostile operations against any nation.
She highlighted recent events where the UAE encountered attacks, purportedly linked to Iran, that targeted civilian locations and key infrastructure, such as airports and essential services. Falaknaz labeled these actions as clear violations of international law and principles of peaceful coexistence.
Falaknaz emphasized that attacks on civilians and infrastructure signify a perilous escalation, undermining regional security. She reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to backing international and regional initiatives aimed at fostering peace and stability.
Furthermore, she pointed out that engaging in political dialogue and diplomatic resolutions serves as the most effective strategies for conflict resolution. She also underscored the pivotal role of parliamentary institutions in fostering peace, cooperation, and constructive dialogue.
In conclusion, Falaknaz appealed to the global community to bolster efforts to protect civilians and ensure secure trade routes and supply chains, essential for both regional and global stability.
