Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile), has said that the organisation’s Extraordinary General Assembly and Annual Conference in Macau, China, will play a key role in shaping the future of global motorsport and mobility.
The three-day conference will begin on Tuesday at the Galaxy International Convention Centre. The event is being hosted in partnership with the Automobile General Association Macao-China (AAMC) and Galaxy Entertainment Group.
More than 450 senior FIA delegates from 149 countries are expected to attend the conference. The gathering will provide a platform for discussions on major topics including the growth of motorsport, road safety, sustainable mobility, and innovation in transportation.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ben Sulayem said the conference is an important opportunity for members of the FIA community to come together and help guide the future direction of motorsport and mobility around the world.
"As we continue to increase participation, encourage innovation and improve road safety worldwide, these discussions are more important than ever," he said.
The conference will also bring together representatives from the FIA’s 245 Member Clubs. These clubs play a central role in the federation’s governance and operations, with full members holding voting rights in FIA elections and regulatory decisions.
The FIA Member Clubs are divided into two main categories. Mobility Clubs focus on mobility services, road safety, travel and tourism, consumer rights, and sustainable transport solutions. National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) are responsible for developing and regulating motorsport at the national level, including organising events, issuing licences, and overseeing sporting regulations.
Macau is one of the most iconic destinations in world motorsport. The city has hosted the famous Macau Grand Prix at the Guia Circuit since 1954. Today, the event features competitions across four FIA categories and is widely known for its challenging layout, which combines high-speed straights with tight corners.
The upcoming conference is expected to strengthen international cooperation and support FIA efforts to advance motorsport, improve mobility services, and promote safer and more sustainable transportation worldwide.
