Alex Fitzpatrick delivered an outstanding final-round performance to secure his maiden DP World Tour title at the 2026 Hero Indian Open.
The English golfer staged an impressive comeback to defeat defending champion Eugenio Chacarra, overturning a significant overnight deficit with a dominant display on the back nine. With this victory, Fitzpatrick joins his elder brother, Matt Fitzpatrick, as a winner on the DP World Tour. The siblings also made history by becoming the first to win in successive weeks across the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour.
Chacarra entered the final round with a commanding four-shot lead and remained steady early on despite an opening bogey. However, Fitzpatrick began to build momentum after recovering from bogeys on the third and fourth holes with a crucial birdie at the sixth.
A key turning point came at the eighth hole when Chacarra’s tee shot found the water, resulting in a bogey. Fitzpatrick capitalised with a birdie to reduce the gap. Although Chacarra still led by three shots at the turn, his advantage had been significantly reduced.
Fitzpatrick intensified the pressure on the back nine. After a bogey on the 10th, he responded with three consecutive birdies. Chacarra briefly steadied himself with a fine approach at the 13th but failed to convert key chances, including a difficult birdie opportunity on the 14th.
The decisive moment came between the 15th and 17th holes, where Fitzpatrick surged ahead with composed birdies while Chacarra dropped shots at crucial stages. This swing gave Fitzpatrick a clear lead heading into the final hole.
Despite a double bogey on the last, Fitzpatrick had built enough of a cushion to secure a two-shot victory and seal a memorable breakthrough win.
In other results, MJ Daffue finished tied for third alongside Ugo Coussaud and Andy Sullivan. Italy’s Francesco Molinari, along with Ewen Ferguson and Calum Hill, finished at three-under, while David Law and Matteo Manassero also secured top-10 finishes.
This victory marks a significant milestone in Alex Fitzpatrick’s career and highlights his growing presence in international golf.
