In response to increasing geopolitical tensions, at least two prominent European airlines have put a stop to flights targeting various cities in the Middle East.
Air France revealed it will temporarily cease its operations to Dubai, emphasizing security issues. The airline stated that it remains vigilant about the evolving situation to guarantee the safety of its passengers and crew. Updates will be provided as circumstances unfold.
KLM, the Dutch airline, confirmed the suspension of flights to Tel Aviv, Dubai, Dammam, and Riyadh until further notice. The airline has also decided to avoid flying through the airspace of several countries including Iraq, Iran, Israel, and certain Gulf nations. While KLM did not provide detailed reasons, it mentioned that it is liaising with Dutch authorities.
These suspensions occur against a backdrop of heightened tensions between the United States and Iran. US President Donald Trump announced the deployment of a significant naval force towards the Gulf, emphasizing that the US is monitoring Iran closely. Although he mentioned the possibility of talks, he affirmed that military preparations are in progress.
Global airlines are monitoring the situation closely as these developments could affect aviation safety and travel routes within the region.
