France has announced its first confirmed Ebola case associated with the current outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as stated by the French health ministry.

The patient, a doctor who recently returned from a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, tested positive for Ebola upon arrival in France.

Patient Isolated for Safety

In order to prevent potential virus transmission, health authorities have placed the patient in isolation. Tracing efforts are underway for those who may have been in close contact with the infected individual.

Despite this confirmed case, the French health ministry reassures that the overall risk to the European population is considered low.

French Health Minister Stéphanie Rist noted that five passengers seated near the infected doctor during the flight have been identified. As a precaution, these individuals have also been isolated while health officials monitor their conditions.
