Rockstar Games has officially revealed the start date for the pre-download of Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI), coinciding with the opening of digital pre-orders set for tomorrow.
This announcement provides vital information for gamers eagerly awaiting the release, with pre-download options extended to both digital and physical copies for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Pre-Download Set for November 12
As indicated by Rockstar Games, those opting for the digital version of GTA VI via the PlayStation Store or Xbox Marketplace will have pre-download access starting on November 12, 2026.
This pre-download period starts precisely one week ahead of the official launch on November 19, 2026, allowing players to install the game prior to its availability at midnight on launch day.
Early Pre-Download for Physical Editions
Additionally, Rockstar has confirmed that purchasers of the physical edition will also gain the ability to download the game starting November 12.
The announcement highlighted that physical copies will include a download code within the packaging. Players must use this code to access the pre-download before the game launches.
Notably, Rockstar emphasized that physical editions will not come with a game disc. The announcement clearly stated, “A disc will not be included in the box.”
This means that users will rely on the download code to install and play the game.
Official Pre-Orders Launch Tomorrow
While a few retailers have previously taken advance reservations for GTA VI, Rockstar Games has confirmed that official pre-orders will open tomorrow. Earlier listings primarily allowed fans to express interest rather than guarantee a copy upon release.
The launch of official pre-orders will also reveal details about the various versions of GTA VI up for purchase.
Overview of GTA VI's Storyline
Rockstar has unveiled the storyline synopsis for GTA VI.
“Jason and Lucia have always known the odds are against them. But when a straightforward job spirals out of control, they find themselves embroiled in a criminal plot reaching across the state of Leonida, relying on each other to survive,” reads the synopsis.
The narrative follows Jason and Lucia as they navigate through a treacherous criminal conspiracy across Leonida.
Launch Date for GTA VI
