Haj Pilgrims Advised to Minimize Social Media Interaction

Haj Pilgrims Advised to Minimize Social Media Interaction

Post by : Shakul

Tabung Haji has issued a call to Malaysian pilgrims engaged in the Haj to concentrate on their spiritual responsibilities and curtail their social media usage during their sacred time in the Holy Land. This guidance comes as numerous pilgrims gather in Mecca and Madinah for the meaningful journey.

Officials remarked that while sharing experiences online is prevalent, overindulgence in mobile and social media could sidetrack pilgrims from the essence of their spiritual journey. The Haj is among the pivotal acts of worship in Islam, necessitating complete focus and commitment.

As per Haj Guidance Operations director Shahrin Awaluddin, it is vital for pilgrims not to let digital distractions obstruct crucial rituals. He emphasized that Haj transcends a mere physical journey; it is a profound spiritual voyage that requires earnestness, concentration, and total dedication.

He remarked that though social media usage is allowed, excessive engagement could lead to missing significant moments like the tawaf around the Kaaba, sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and particularly the wuqoof at Arafah—the pinnacle of the pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, Tabung Haji reassured that the wellbeing of Malaysian pilgrims is being closely monitored during their stay. Authorities are supplying amenities such as lodging, transport, healthcare, and spiritual guidance to facilitate the smooth conduct of their rituals.

Officials also pointed out that there are support teams ready to aid pilgrims experiencing health challenges or encountering any issues. This guarantees that even those who may fall ill receive proper care and support, allowing them to complete their pilgrimage effectively.

The operations for Haj 2026 commenced on April 18, with approximately 31,600 Malaysian attendees traveling in phases to Saudi Arabia. Authorities have urged both pilgrims and their loved ones to remain composed and focused, stressing that the primary intent of this journey is spiritual enrichment, not social media activity.
