Health Alert: Numbness Could Indicate Serious Illness

Post by : Shakul

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) in Thailand has officially recognized that numbness in the hands and feet can serve as a crucial warning for serious health problems. This advisory comes after the Anti-Fake News Center of Thailand (AFNC) identified the issue as among the most frequently discussed health-related topics online.

While typically benign—often resulting from prolonged positions—numbness can occasionally indicate severe medical conditions. The Institute of Neurology under the Ministry of Public Health confirms that symptoms such as sudden numbness affecting one side of the body, issues with speech, visual disturbances, or balance difficulties may be signs of a stroke and demand immediate medical intervention.

Experts warn that enduring numbness that lasts several days, alongside weakness, mobility issues, or loss of bladder control, must not be overlooked. Rapidly spreading numbness beginning at the fingertips or ongoing coordination difficulties are further warnings that necessitate prompt medical advice.

The DE Ministry expressed growing concern over the increase of misinformation circulating online. Authorities encourage the public to depend solely on verified information from authoritative sources and to refrain from sharing unsubstantiated health news. Citizens are urged to report dubious content through the official channels of the Anti-Fake News Center to help mitigate the spread of false information and enhance public health awareness.
