The Heartbeat of Humanity film series, backed by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, has emerged victorious in the Documentary category at the 30th Annual Webby Awards, one of the most esteemed recognitions for internet excellence.
Known as the “Internet’s highest honour” by The New York Times, the Webby Awards commend exceptional achievements in websites, apps, and social media.
The Heartbeat of Humanity series scored a remarkable double win, receiving both the Webby Award chosen by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences and the Webby People’s Voice Award, determined through public voting. This year saw an impressive turnout with over 4 million votes worldwide.
The project distinguished itself amid more than 13,000 entries and was selected as one of five finalists in the Documentary category, previously acclaimed winning organizations like National Geographic, Netflix, and The Washington Post.
His Excellency Mohamed Abdelsalam, the award's Secretary-General, remarked that this accolade underscores the rising significance of storytelling in promoting humanitarian values. He emphasized that the series embodies the award’s mission to foster unity and human fraternity across various cultures.
Produced by the Abu Dhabi-based creative collective People, the films highlight the transformative work of the award’s 2025 and 2026 honourees.
Among those featured are Mia Amor Mottley, World Central Kitchen, innovator Heman Bekele, the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, Taawon, and education advocate Zarqa Yaftali.
Tim Elliott, CEO of People, commented that this recognition demonstrates both industry recognition and strong global audience connection. He noted that the team remained committed to portraying these narratives with integrity and respect.
Scheduled for 11 May 2026, the award ceremony will take place in New York City. Established in 1996, the Webby Awards are conferred by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, comprised of over 3,000 professionals and leaders in the digital domain.
