Heathrow Abolishes 100ml Liquid Restriction with New Scanners

London: Heathrow Airport has officially lifted the long-standing 100ml limit on liquids in hand luggage, enabling passengers to carry up to two litres through security. This update follows the complete installation of state-of-the-art CT scanners across all terminals, as reported.

With the new technology, travellers are not required to remove liquids or electronic devices such as laptops from their bags, and the need for clear plastic bags has been eliminated. Heathrow has now become the largest airport globally to adopt this advanced screening method.

This adjustment is specific to flights departing from Heathrow, and passengers should verify the security regulations of their return airports, as many still adhere to previous limits.

Thomas Woldbye, Heathrow’s chief executive, stated that the £1 billion enhancement will expedite security procedures and simplify travel, allowing passengers to prepare more efficiently at security checkpoints.

Other UK airports such as Gatwick, Edinburgh, and Birmingham have also raised their liquid allowances, although some are pending government consent.

Similarly, Dubai International Airport (DXB) implemented comparable changes last year with advanced scanners to enhance passenger experience and minimize wait times.
