Ho Chi Minh City Achieves Robust Growth in Q1 2026

Post by : Shakul

In the first quarter of 2026, Ho Chi Minh City has demonstrated impressive economic growth, achieving an increase of 8.27 percent—the highest figure recorded for this period in five years. This performance underscores the city's ability to bounce back amidst global economic challenges, such as increased logistics expenses and surging energy costs.

The services sector led the way with a growth rate of 8.91 percent, contributing over half of the city's economic output. Key contributors include significant increases in transportation, logistics, and e-commerce activities, particularly in the transport and warehousing sectors, which saw over 12 percent growth.

Investment trends also showcased notable progress, with foreign direct investment (FDI) nearing 2.9 billion US dollars—representing a sharp rise from the previous year. Key sectors attracting investment include technology, manufacturing, and digital services, further solidifying the city’s status as a vital economic center in the region.

Looking forward, Ho Chi Minh City is committed to sustaining its impressive growth by emphasizing infrastructure improvements, the expansion of the digital economy, and fostering innovation. Authorities have established an ambitious goal of achieving over 10 percent economic growth in 2026, supported by necessary policy reforms and new development strategies.
