Hrithik Roshan is set to make a special appearance in the highly anticipated film Jailer 2, replacing Shah Rukh Khan, who reportedly stepped away from the project because of scheduling commitments related to his upcoming film King. The development has generated significant excitement among fans eager to see another major Bollywood star join Rajinikanth’s blockbuster universe.
According to reports, Hrithik Roshan will shoot his portions for the film in Chennai on June 22 and 23. While the makers have kept details about his character under wraps, sources suggest that his role will be much more than a brief cameo and will play an important part in advancing the storyline.
The actor is expected to appear at a crucial stage of the narrative, providing key support to Rajinikanth’s iconic character Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The production team is reportedly working on a distinctive look for Hrithik, with several look tests planned before filming begins to ensure the character has a unique screen presence.
The casting also carries a strong nostalgic element. Hrithik Roshan and Rajinikanth previously shared screen space in the 1986 film Bhagwaan Dada, where a young Hrithik appeared as the foster son of Rajinikanth’s character. Their reunion after nearly four decades adds another layer of excitement to the project.
Before Hrithik was finalized for the role, Shah Rukh Khan was widely rumored to be the preferred choice for the special appearance. Fans had eagerly anticipated the possibility of seeing two of Indian cinema’s biggest superstars together on screen. However, ongoing commitments to King reportedly made it impossible for Shah Rukh to accommodate the shooting schedule.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and backed by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest multi-industry films in recent years. The sequel is expected to feature several prominent stars from different film industries, further expanding the scale and reach of the franchise.
Apart from Rajinikanth and Hrithik Roshan, the film is expected to include appearances by Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vijay Sethupathi and Mithun Chakraborty. The ensemble cast also includes Ramya Krishnan, Vidya Balan and SJ Suryah, making Jailer 2 one of the most anticipated Indian films currently in production.
