In a stunning exhibition of cutting-edge technology, a humanoid robot triumphed over its human competitors, establishing a new record at the Beijing half marathon.
Engineered with an autonomous navigation system and developed by Chinese smartphone brand Honor, the robot finished the 21-kilometer race in just 50 minutes and 26 seconds. This remarkable speed equals an average pace of roughly 25 km/h, significantly surpassing all human entries in the event.
Its finish time also broke the existing men's half marathon world record of 57 minutes and 20 seconds, previously set by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo.
This accomplishment underscores the swift advancements occurring in robotics and artificial intelligence within China, marking a new chapter where machines can compete with and sometimes exceed human capabilities in endurance events.
