On Saturday, a Chinese reconnaissance drone crossed into the airspace above Taiwan's Pratas Islands, situated at the northern edge of the South China Sea. Taiwan’s defense ministry reacted sharply, characterizing the breach as a “provocative and irresponsible” action that jeopardizes regional stability.
Known as the Dongsha Islands, the Pratas Islands play a crucial role in the contested waters of the South China Sea and have been a longstanding source of tension between China and Taiwan.
