Emergency Landing of IndiaOne Aircraft Near Rourkela Injures Six

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Rourkela, Odisha:

Six individuals, comprising both the pilot and co-pilot, were injured when a nine-seater private aircraft from IndiaOne Airlines performed an emergency landing near Rourkela on Saturday afternoon.

Officials reported that shortly after take-off, the aircraft encountered a technical issue and had to touch down in farmland near Katibandha Kansara, close to Jalda, at around 1:20–1:30 pm.

The aircraft, a Cessna Caravan 208 with the registration VT-KSS, was en route from Bhubaneswar to Rourkela. It took off at 12:27 pm with two pilots and four passengers aboard.

The Odisha government praised the pilots for their quick and professional response after identifying the fault. They declared a Mayday and executed a controlled forced landing, ensuring the safety of all passengers on board.

“The pilots maintained safety during the emergency, preserving lives,” noted the state government in an official announcement.

IndiaOne Airlines disclosed that the aircraft had flown only four to five kilometers before the malfunction emerged. The airline is cooperating with aviation regulators and the Odisha government to support the passengers and crew.

All six injured individuals were rescued from the site and taken to a local hospital in Rourkela, where their conditions are reported to be stable.

Emergency personnel, including police and fire services, arrived promptly on site. Due to a leaking aviation fuel, the area was secured to prevent public access as a precautionary measure.
