Vietnam has experienced a remarkable boost in international visitor numbers, with over 6.7 million arrivals in the first quarter of 2026. Official statistics reveal a 12.4 percent increase compared to the same timeframe last year, underscoring the nation's rising status as a favored travel destination.
The month of March 2026 alone attracted more than 2 million international visitors. Though this figure is modestly lower than February's results, it signifies consistent year-on-year growth. The influx primarily came from nations including China, South Korea, the United States, Japan, India, and Australia, showcasing a diverse range of tourists.
Air travel continues to dominate as the preferred mode of entry, contributing significantly to the overall international arrival numbers, with land and sea routes also playing a role. Alongside foreign visitors, domestic tourism has thrived, with millions of local travelers enhancing the sector's vitality.
The estimated tourism revenue in the first quarter stands at approximately 267 trillion VND, reflecting a substantial impact on the national economy. The ongoing increase in tourist numbers highlights Vietnam's effective initiatives in tourism promotion, infrastructure enhancement, and improvement of travel experiences.
