Investment from South Africa in Dubai Surpasses AED1 Billion

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Investment from South Africa in Dubai has surpassed AED1 billion (approximately US$294 million) over the last five years, showcasing the deepening economic ties between the two regions.

During the Dubai–South Africa Business Forum held in Johannesburg, Salem Al Shamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, indicated that these funds have been directed towards various vital sectors, including information and communications technology (ICT), pharmaceuticals, and food industries, among other promising economic areas.

Al Shamsi emphasized Dubai Chambers' commitment to facilitate companies aiming to expand into international markets, particularly within Africa, which remains ripe with opportunities for trade, investment, and business growth.

This forum was part of the 13th trade mission to African markets undertaken by Dubai Chambers since 2023 as part of its "New Horizons" initiative, aimed at enabling Dubai-based enterprises to discover new markets, pursue investment opportunities, and forge enduring international partnerships.

A total of 24 Dubai-based companies from diverse sectors participated in the forum, engaging with South African businesses to explore potential trade and investment avenues while enhancing collaboration between the two markets.

Al Shamsi further noted that the Dubai Chambers' representative office in South Africa is crucial in assisting firms entering this market and fostering connections with local business networks.

He expressed optimism that investment flows between Dubai and South Africa will continue to rise in the years ahead, bolstered by ongoing initiatives to attract high-value investments and strengthen economic cooperation.
