Jordan's air defence systems intercepted and shot down four missiles that entered the kingdom's airspace from Iran early on Monday, according to an official military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army.
The details were released in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency (Petra), which confirmed that the missiles were successfully intercepted after entering Jordanian airspace.
The General Command said the incident did not result in any casualties or material damage. Authorities confirmed that the interception was carried out successfully and that the situation remained under control.
Officials stated that there were no reports of injuries or damage to public or private property following the incident.
According to the statement, teams from the Royal Engineering Corps secured the affected areas and removed missile debris that fell at several locations across the kingdom.
The operation was carried out using approved technical and security procedures to ensure public safety and safely clear the impacted sites.
The official military source stressed that Jordan will respond firmly to any violation of its sovereignty or airspace.
"Any attempt to undermine state sovereignty or violate Jordanian airspace will be met with decisive force under established rules of engagement and national interests," the source said.
The source also reaffirmed that the Jordanian military will continue taking all necessary measures to safeguard the country and protect its people.
