Thailand’s Justice Minister Discusses Oil Depot Investigation

Thailand’s Justice Minister Discusses Oil Depot Investigation

Post by : Shakul

On April 8, 2026, Ruttapon Naowarat conducted a press briefing regarding the investigation into irregular operations concerning oil depots throughout Thailand. The gathering saw participation from key officials, including law enforcement and representatives from various ministries, such as Energy and Commerce.

During the briefing, the Minister explained that these investigations stem from governmental actions aimed at avoiding fuel shortages and ensuring the proper distribution of oil across the country. Authorities are monitoring the fuel trading process meticulously, with specialized oversight groups assigned to each stage of the supply chain. Joint operations have been initiated in regions including Rayong, Pathum Thani, Samut Sakhon, and Khon Kaen.

Initial investigations have uncovered multiple irregular practices. Instances included oil being collected from depots without being delivered to designated gas stations, an infraction of trading rules. In another case, a depot continued to operate even after its license was annulled. Investigators also found delays in oil distribution that coincided with impending price hikes, along with misleading reports submitted to government authorities.

Officials have reiterated that enhanced controls on oil transportation routes, delivery schedules, and storage methods are being enacted. The government has pledged a commitment to transparency, aiming to prevent disruptions in supply and bolster public trust through collaboration among all involved authorities.
