Speed Under Investigation

Authorities suspect that excessive speed may have played a role in this tragic event.

"Excessive speed is considered a contributing factor in this accident," the Frederick County Sheriff's Office noted in a statement.

Kaylee was taken to a hospital post-accident, where she was declared deceased.

The driver, aged 19, was injured but his wounds are not considered life-threatening. The other passenger declined further medical assistance.

A Star Remembered

Kaylee, who was deaf, portrayed Jia, a significant character in both Godzilla vs. Kong and the sequel, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.

Her performance brought her acclaim within the industry, including a nomination for the 2024 Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor.

Tributes Pour In

Kaylee's father, Joshua Hottle, shared her passing through a touching video in American Sign Language on Facebook.

The Texas School for the Deaf, where Kaylee studied, also expressed their sorrow on social media, viewing her loss as a "tremendous loss" and offering condolences to her family and friends.

The school urged everyone to respect the family's privacy and refrain from speculating about the incident circumstances.

Continuing Investigation

Investigators are still looking into the crash. Further details have yet to be revealed, but the emphasis remains on the potential role of excessive speed in the incident.
