The Vietnamese government has officially sanctioned a pivotal long-term master plan for the coastal province of Khanh Hoa. This decision outlines a strategic framework aimed at evolving the area into a contemporary and globally interconnected urban center by the year 2050, with a forward-looking vision extending to 2075.
Authorized by Pham Gia Tuc, the initiative sets the groundwork for extensive urban and economic growth. It encompasses a vast land area exceeding 8,700 square kilometers along with a significant maritime zone that stretches several nautical miles offshore.
As per the outlined strategy, the development will unfold in phases: the initial phase will concentrate on advancements through 2030 and 2040, while the long-term phase strives for substantial transformation by 2050. The extended vision towards 2075 underscores Vietnam's commitment to long-term planning.
The main objective is to cultivate Khanh Hoa into a Class I urban zone that is modern, innovative, environmentally friendly, and sustainable. This city is anticipated to become a vital growth nucleus for Vietnam and a competitive coastal hub with robust international links.
Khanh Hoa is envisioned to be a pivotal center for diverse sectors, including the marine economy, advanced technology industries, logistics, renewable energy, and innovation. The region will serve as an essential connector to both regional and international economic corridors.
Tourism is expected to be a focal point in the development agenda. Khanh Hoa aims to emerge as a prime destination for international marine tourism, providing amenities such as resorts, conferences, and large events to attract global visitors.
The plan also underscores the importance of balanced growth between urban development and natural ecosystems. Authorities are dedicated to environmental protection, coastal landscape preservation, and aligning expansion with climate change adaptation.
Population growth is projected to increase consistently alongside development. The urban population is expected to reach almost 2.8 million by 2030, about 3.8 million by 2040, and over 5 million by 2050, reflecting significant economic progress.
