KRK Detained by Mumbai Authorities for Firing Incident with Licensed Weapon

Post by : Meena Hassan

Kamaal Rashid Khan, better known as KRK, has been taken into custody by the Mumbai police following a shooting incident that occurred in Oshiwara, Andheri. He has emerged as the main suspect in the case.

The Oshiwara police apprehended KRK late on Friday night and transported him to the local police precinct. As per reports, he confessed to firing shots, confirming the use of his licensed firearm. The police have seized the weapon, and procedural legal paperwork is currently being processed in relation to the ongoing investigation.

The shooting took place on January 18, targeting a residential structure within Nalanda Society, Oshiwara. One of the apartments affected belongs to a filmmaker, while another is inhabited by a model. Investigators retrieved two bullets—one from the second floor and another from the fourth.

An 18-member task force from the Oshiwara police, under the leadership of officer Sanjay Chavan, collaborated with different crime branch units to probe the matter. Initial inquiries faced challenges due to the lack of suspicious activity visible in nearby CCTV footage; however, forensic tests later indicated the shots were most likely fired from KRK's bungalow.

According to police sources, the formal arrest process for KRK is expected to conclude by tomorrow morning. The investigation remains active as authorities meticulously sift through all available evidence to decide the next steps.

This incident has sparked significant public interest, raising alarms regarding safety and the risk of firearm misuse in urban neighborhoods. Officials have stressed that strict measures will follow once all legal protocols have been fulfilled.
