Kuwait's Airspace Reopens Following Brief Suspension

Kuwait's Airspace Reopens Following Brief Suspension

Post by : Bianca Haleem

As of Thursday, Kuwait has reopened the airspace at Kuwait International Airport, concluding a temporary suspension that started on February 28 in light of regional tensions.

This announcement came from Sheikh Eng. Hamoud Mubarak Hamoud Al-Sabah, Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation. The Kuwait News Agency reported that the reopening was executed after extensive collaboration with global authorities to maintain the highest standards of safety and security during operations.

Air traffic is expected to resume gradually as part of a phased approach. Technical teams have initiated maintenance and repair efforts on the facilities and operational systems impacted by the recent regional issues.

Sheikh Hamoud Al-Sabah asserted that the aviation sector is on standby to resume full operations smoothly. He also expressed gratitude toward Saudi Arabia for facilitating Kuwaiti flights through its airports during the suspension.

Additionally, he recognized the support from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations and commended the cohesive regional coordination that played a key role in managing the crisis and expediting the reopening.

This development marks a crucial milestone in restoring normal air travel within Kuwait after a period of disruption.
