During the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) 2026, Kyrgyzstan has reiterated its aspiration to emerge as a prominent trade and agricultural hub in the region. Senior officials detailed a comprehensive strategy aimed at improving food security, boosting exports, and fostering regional economic collaboration.
In high-profile discussions, Daniyar Amangeldiev, First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, underscored Kyrgyzstan's dedication to enhancing its position within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and expanding its footprint in global agricultural markets. He stated that agriculture is a cornerstone of the nation's development agenda.
During a panel on EAEU members' impact on global agricultural dynamics, Amangeldiev shared that Kyrgyzstan is proactively enhancing its agricultural export capacity and promoting the sophisticated processing of its produce. The government is aiding farmers through subsidies, advanced veterinary standards, and modern technologies to boost sustainability and productivity.
He also highlighted the critical role of effective water management and scientific collaboration among EAEU nations. These initiatives, according to Amangeldiev, are essential for creating a resilient food system that meets domestic and international demands. Kyrgyzstan is open to joint investments in logistics and aquaculture to diversify its agricultural landscape.
In a session addressing the evolving global economic landscape, Amangeldiev outlined Kyrgyzstan's strategy to adapt to shifting trade and financial conditions. He pointed out that global economic frameworks are rapidly transforming, and those who adapt swiftly will achieve a competitive edge.
Kyrgyzstan is strategically positioning itself as a vital regional hub linking key trade routes across Central Asia. By capitalizing on its geographic advantages and enhancing connectivity, the nation aims to attract investment and drive economic development, thereby bolstering regional stability. This strategy is expected to elevate Kyrgyzstan's significance in the global economy while unlocking new avenues for businesses and investors.
The forum wrapped up with Amangeldiev participating in the plenary session, where leaders addressed future global trends and international collaborations. SPIEF 2026 offered Kyrgyzstan a valuable platform to highlight its economic goals and reaffirm its commitment to sustainable development, regional partnerships, and investment prospects.
