Kyrgyzstan's New Strategy to Enhance SME Growth

Kyrgyzstan's New Strategy to Enhance SME Growth

Post by : Shakul

A strategic meeting centered on the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) recently took place in Bishkek, underscoring the government's dedication to bolstering economic foundations. Hosted at the Presidential Administration, the assembly included governors, finance officials, and industry analysts.

Leading the conference was Adylbek Kasymaliev, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, who underscored SMEs' vital role in fostering economic growth and creating jobs nationwide.

During discussions, it was highlighted that SMEs’ contribution to the GDP surged from 40% to 51% over the last three years, suggesting an encouraging trend and greater entrepreneurial involvement in Kyrgyzstan.

Kasymaliev pointed out that developmental resources should target initiatives in rural regions, where opportunities remain scarce. By nurturing local entrepreneurs and facilitating project launches, there can be more balanced regional growth and enhanced living standards.

Officials reviewed a draft initiative designed to back SMEs through 2030. The proposal features enhancements in financing access, including favorable loan terms, interest subsidies, and risk mitigation guarantees.

Apart from fiscal incentives, the initiative aims to cultivate entrepreneurial skills through training, mentorship, and business accelerator programs. Such efforts are anticipated to empower entrepreneurs and ensure their ventures maintain viability over time.

Concluding the meeting, several directives were issued for quick approval and execution of the SME advancement program, with authorities believing these actions will foster a healthier business ecosystem and stimulate economic progress in the future.
