MACC Submits Investigation Files on High-Ranking Military Officials

Post by : Meena Hassan

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has officially passed its investigation files regarding senior military personnel to the public prosecutor for assessment and subsequent actions.

Tan Sri Azam Baki, Chief Commissioner of MACC, confirmed that the proposed charges are included in the submission. He mentioned updates will follow as the prosecution makes decisions on the case.

This action follows recent enforcement events where 23 individuals were apprehended during two large-scale operations, Ops Parasit and Ops Star. Among those detained are two senior officers and four high-ranking military officials.

Azam indicated that the focus of the investigation is on alleged corruption and misuse of authority tied to procurement processes and the handling of public funds. The allegations reportedly involve bribery linked to several companies associated with defense procurement contracts.

The contracts under scrutiny involve the Armed Forces Welfare Fund and the Ministry of Defence, raising significant concerns due to their direct relation to national institutions.

Commencing on October 7, 2025, the investigation has been deemed highly sensitive due to the seniority of the individuals involved. Azam stressed that the case is of considerable public interest, particularly concerning accountability, transparency, and public confidence in defense governance.

Authorities reaffirm their dedication to the legal process, emphasizing that every action is conducted within the framework of the law.
