UAE Team Emirates-XRG celebrated a remarkable achievement in Stage 4 of the Giro d’Italia as Jhonatan Narváez took home the victory in the 138km race from Catanzaro to Cosenza, culminating in an exhilarating finish.
The excitement peaked in the final two kilometres when teammate Jan Christen executed a strategic late attack during the intricate approach. This decisive move put key competitors on the back foot, allowing Narváez the perfect chance to push ahead in the thrilling sprint.
Narváez unleashed a powerful sprint to clinch the stage win, edging out Movistar Team's Orluis Aular in second, while Giulio Ciccone of Lidl-Trek rounded out the top three.
This victory marks Narváez's remarkable return after months sidelined with multiple fractured vertebrae from the Tour Down Under in January. Despite facing such severe injuries, he showcased his extraordinary form to secure an essential triumph for UAE Team Emirates-XRG.
Christen also had a noteworthy outing, safely finishing in the leading group to move up to second place in the overall standings, just four seconds behind the leader. The talented young Swiss rider has now ascended to the top of the best young rider category, earning the coveted white jersey.
With a stellar performance in Stage 4, UAE Team Emirates-XRG is poised to carry this momentum into the upcoming stages of the Giro d’Italia.
