Lego Launches Football Star Sets Ahead of World Cup 2026

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Lego Group, a prominent name in the toy industry, is making waves as it steps into the world of sports with an exciting new collection featuring legendary footballers.

In celebration of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup—being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico—Lego is unveiling exclusive sets inspired by football icons such as Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The launch includes a total of seven innovative sets—four letter-shaped designs for each player at $29, complemented by high-end display models of Ronaldo and Messi retailing for $79.

A standout set features a 1,427-piece 3D wall art model of Messi in his iconic celebration pose, available for $179. Mini-figures of these stars will also be included, making it a fun option for younger fans and collectors alike.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Messi emphasized the parallels between football and the creativity promoted through Lego play, highlighting the joy of learning and inventiveness. He shared his excitement for the unique sets, which encapsulate unforgettable moments from the game.

Vinicius Jr., currently with Real Madrid, expressed his hope that this initiative will inspire inclusivity and creativity among young fans worldwide, recalling how his Lego experiences helped shape his imagination as a child.

With a legacy stretching nearly a century, Lego continues to expand its horizons by engaging in global sporting events. Its prior successes include the functional Formula One cars produced for last year’s Miami Grand Prix.

As the World Cup approaches, Lego is set to launch a wider football-themed initiative, featuring immersive fan zones designed to connect with soccer enthusiasts around the globe.
