Nitish Kumar Poised to Resign as Bihar's Chief Minister

Nitish Kumar Poised to Resign as Bihar's Chief Minister

Post by : Shakul

In a significant political shift for Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to resign from his position on April 13, 2026. This decision marks a pivotal moment in the state's political narrative, signaling the conclusion of his long-standing tenure.

This announcement comes just days after Kumar took the oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10, symbolizing his transition away from state politics after nearly two decades of leadership.

Prior to this change, a key meeting was held at his official residence in Patna with senior JD(U) leaders to discuss the formation of the next state government and prospective political strategies.

Sources within the party have suggested that the next Chief Minister will likely be from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), reflecting a significant reorganization within the ruling coalition.

As he prepares for his resignation, Kumar has begun relocating his personal possessions from the official Chief Minister’s residence at 1, Anne Marg to his home at 7, Circular Road.

Political leaders are keen on managing this transition to maintain governance stability and ensure an orderly transfer of authority in Bihar.

Analysts believe this transition could dramatically influence Bihar's political environment, with heightened focus on the BJP’s forthcoming leadership decisions and policy direction.
