U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures also recorded a decline. WTI fell by 52 cents, or 0.5 percent, to settle at $101.91 a barrel.
Despite the decline during the trading session, both major crude benchmarks remained above $100 a barrel. This keeps oil prices at a relatively elevated level for global energy markets.
Oil prices are closely watched by governments, businesses and investors because changes in crude prices can influence transportation costs, industrial activity and consumer prices across different economies.
Investors and energy market participants continue to monitor movements in Brent and WTI crude, along with developments affecting global oil supply, demand and international energy markets.
The latest movement shows a decline in crude prices at settlement while prices remain above the $100 level. Further changes in global market conditions could influence oil prices in subsequent trading sessions.
