Oman and France Forge Stronger Ties During Strategic Dialogue in Paris

On April 15, 2026, Paris hosted the inaugural strategic dialogue between the Sultanate of Oman and France, a pivotal event aimed at reinforcing bilateral relations.

The Omani side was represented by His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, while the French delegation was led by His Excellency Martin Prince, Secretary General at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The meeting demonstrated both nations' dedication to enhancing diplomatic ties.

Throughout the discussions, both parties reiterated the significance of their strategic partnership and mapped out plans for expanding collaborations across various fields. A particular focus was placed on bolstering economic investments, energy security, and cultural as well as educational exchanges, including training programs for sustained growth.

The dialogue also aimed at identifying new expressions of cooperation to elevate the bilateral ties further. Both countries shared a commitment to cultivating a proactive partnership, underpinned by ongoing communication and mutual respect.

In addition to enhancing bilateral relations, both missions discussed pressing regional and global issues, with special emphasis on the ongoing Gulf crisis and its broader ramifications. They affirmed their belief that diplomacy and dialogue are essential for addressing issues and finding lasting solutions.

Oman and France highlighted the significance of engaging all stakeholders in discussions to ease tensions and foster regional stability. Their unified stance showcased a commitment to peaceful negotiations and collaborative efforts.

During the dialogue, a noteworthy agreement was finalized between Oman and France regarding work permits for spouses of official personnel. This significant accord is expected to enrich social and professional relationships between the two nations.

Signed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Harthy on behalf of Oman and Martin Prince on behalf of France, with senior officials witnessing the historic occasion, this meeting underscored the crucial nature of their strategic partnership.
