Oman has made a significant mark on the international stage by clinching four medals at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This success underscores the country's rising capabilities in scientific research, technological innovation, and development.
Participating through the Research and Innovation Authority, Oman proudly brought home three gold medals alongside one silver medal during the esteemed ITEX 2026 event. The competition featured over 1,000 inventions from 17 nations, establishing itself as a leading platform for innovation.
The first gold medal went to Nahya Nasser Al Hamdani for creating smart glasses that come with a mobile app, aiding blind and visually impaired users in navigating their environment with enhanced independence and safety through sophisticated digital tools.
Another gold was awarded to Luqman Sulaiman Al Dhafri for his impressive “Drone-Air Lens” project, which utilizes AI-driven drones for swift and accurate automated aircraft inspections. This project also received a special accolade for being the best invention in the exhibition.
Zaher Salim Al Alawi earned the third gold for his innovative biotherapeutic platform that expedites recovery for chronic and diabetic wounds. This system employs smart medical technologies to enhance patient recuperation and healthcare efficiency.
In addition, Balqees Salim Al Hikmani secured a silver medal for her closed-loop smart medical system that maintains potassium levels for heart patients. Her innovation is recognized for its potential to advance cardiac care and patient monitoring in contemporary healthcare.
Officials characterized this accomplishment as a testament to the country's strides in research and dedication to fostering young innovators who are prepared to contribute to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The awards reflect the growing competitive edge of Omani talent within technology and scientific innovation.
