Perplexity AI Launches Comet Browser For Pro Users In India

Post by : Mumtaaz Qadiri

Perplexity AI has announced that its AI-powered Comet browser is now available to Pro subscribers in India. Earlier, Comet could only be used by Perplexity Max subscribers. With this expansion, more users can experience AI-assisted web browsing on their Mac or Windows computers. Android users can pre-order the browser via the Google Play Store, although the release date has not yet been confirmed.

How To Access Comet

Comet can be downloaded directly from the official Perplexity website for both Mac and Windows PCs. To access the browser, users must have a Perplexity Pro subscription, which costs approximately Rs 17,000 per year. The Pro subscription gives users full access to Comet’s AI-powered browsing features and tools that make web research, online shopping, and other tasks easier and more efficient.

Airtel Collaboration Brings Free Access

Bharti Airtel recently partnered with Perplexity to provide its customers with a complimentary one-year Perplexity Pro subscription. This means Airtel users who take advantage of the offer will also be able to use Comet without paying extra. The partnership makes it easier for more people to explore the AI browser while also highlighting Perplexity’s efforts to expand its reach in India.

Intelligent Browsing Features

Comet browser is designed to make web browsing smarter and more productive. It provides a unified interface that understands user intent and reduces the need to manage multiple tabs or applications. Users can conduct full browsing sessions without distraction, making it ideal for research, comparing products, or solving complex problems.

Built-In AI Assistant

One of Comet’s most notable features is its sidebar AI assistant. This assistant can summarise web pages, answer user queries, and perform actions such as booking hotels, sending emails, or shopping online. It also provides contextual answers based on the content visible on the screen, allowing users to interact with websites in a more intelligent and efficient way.

Desktop-First, Mobile Plans Underway

Currently, Comet is only available on Mac and Windows devices. However, Perplexity has been in discussions with mobile device makers to pre-install the browser on smartphones. While this integration is still in progress, Android users can pre-order the app, ensuring they will have access once the release date is confirmed.

Enhancing Productivity And Engagement

Comet transforms web browsing from passive consumption to active engagement. It streamlines workflows and minimises distractions, making it suitable for both personal and professional users. Its AI features allow users to gather information quickly, compare products, and complete tasks directly from the browser without switching between multiple apps.

The Future Of AI Browsing In India

By extending access to Pro subscribers, Perplexity is making AI-powered browsing more widely available. The browser’s collaboration with Airtel and its advanced features position Comet as a practical tool for users who want intelligent, efficient, and interactive web browsing. This move demonstrates the growing importance of AI in everyday online activities.

Perplexity’s Comet browser offers a new way to browse the internet, blending AI intelligence with user convenience. With access on desktops and plans for mobile integration, Pro subscribers in India can enjoy smarter, more productive online experiences. Partnerships like Airtel’s free subscription further increase the reach of this innovative browser.
