Al Ain Farms, Food Tech Valley to Build Dubai Food Hub

Post by : Mumtaaz Qadiri

Al Ain Farms Group (AAFG) has partnered with Food Tech Valley, Dubai’s government-backed food innovation centre, to develop a 260,000 sq.ft. logistics hub in Dubai. The project was announced during the Future Food Forum 2025, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. The new facility aims to enhance food security in the UAE by enabling faster distribution of fresh, high-quality products to consumers.

Faster Deliveries and Improved Efficiency

The strategically located hub will support quicker deliveries and more efficient operations. By reducing delivery distances, it will help lower carbon emissions and improve fleet efficiency. The project is expected to cut CO₂ emissions by approximately 2,500 tonnes per year and reduce fleet emissions by up to 35%. This aligns with the UAE’s broader sustainability and Net Zero 2050 goals while promoting a more resilient and efficient food supply system.

Benefits for the Local Economy

Hassan Safi, Group CEO of Al Ain Farms Group, emphasized that the partnership reflects the power of strong local collaboration. He explained that working with Food Tech Valley allows the UAE to deliver fresher food to consumers more quickly, strengthen the local economy, and create opportunities for skilled talent. The project also aims to increase delivery efficiency by 33%, reduce waste, and streamline supply chain operations.

Focus on Sustainability and Innovation

The new logistics hub is designed with sustainability at its core. By leveraging the UAE’s expertise, the project will help build a greener, more self-reliant food system. The collaboration also encourages innovation, laying the groundwork for future technological advancements and long-term growth in the food sector. Both partners are committed to supporting the UAE’s vision of a smarter and more sustainable future.

Construction Timeline and Job Creation

Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in late 2025 and is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027. The project will create more than a hundred jobs in logistics and operational roles. Advanced technology will also be incorporated into the hub to ensure efficiency, improve food storage, and maintain product quality throughout the supply chain.

Food Tech Valley’s Role in UAE Food Innovation

Ahmed Al Shaibani, Director of Food Tech Valley, highlighted that the partnership aligns with the centre’s mission to drive innovation and sustainability in the UAE food ecosystem. He added that the hub will help make supply chains more efficient, sustainable, and resilient. It also opens opportunities for future collaborations and technological advancements that strengthen national food security.

A Vision for the Future

This logistics hub represents a major step toward building a modern, resilient, and eco-friendly food system in the UAE. The project demonstrates how partnerships between private companies and government-backed institutions can advance sustainability goals, improve service efficiency, and support the local economy. By 2027, the facility will serve as a model for integrating innovation and sustainability into food distribution.
