Arafah Day: Pilgrims Gather at Namirah Mosque for Prayers

Post by : Bianca Haleem

An incredible turnout of pilgrims arrived at Namirah Mosque in Arafat early in the morning to partake in the combined Dhuhr and Asr prayers, while absorbing the spiritual essence of the Arafah sermon.

The mosque and its adjacent courtyards displayed seamless movement of attendees as Saudi authorities implemented comprehensive organizational measures to guarantee safety, comfort, and accessibility during the Day of Arafah activities.

Regarded as a crucial Islamic site, Namirah Mosque holds significant historical and religious importance as it is closely associated with the location where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his Farewell Sermon during his last pilgrimage. The mosque derives its name from Mount Namirah, located within the Arafat vicinity.

About 22 kilometers from the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Namirah Mosque is acclaimed as the second-largest mosque in the holy sites region. Its remarkable Islamic architectural style showcases six minarets, each towering 60 meters, alongside three domes, 10 principal entrances, and 64 gates designed to effectively manage vast crowds.

Equipped with cutting-edge technological amenities, the mosque offers high-quality audio systems and live broadcasting for transmitting the Arafah sermon and prayers globally. Additionally, it features modern air-conditioning, shaded areas, digital displays, and advanced safety systems to ensure a safe and pleasant experience for all pilgrims.
